About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in Irving and the surrounding Dallas area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, covering lesson plans and serving as positive role models who support students’ learning and help them see new possibilities. Teachers can choose assignments and set their own schedule, working up to five days per week. Daily assignments pay $120 per day, while long-term assignments pay $135 per day; pay is weekly and issued via W-2. The role may also include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the position can provide a path to permanent roles at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed for student and school support.
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Belief that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.

Responsibilities

• Cover lesson plans in K–12 classrooms.
