Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Mesquite and the surrounding Dallas area. Substitute teachers support K–12 schools by covering classroom assignments, serving as positive role models, and helping students engage with learning. The role offers a self-directed schedule, with the opportunity to work up to five days per week in teaching assignments of interest and choose schools across the Dallas area. Substitute teachers may also be asked to help with lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Pay is up to $142 per day, paid weekly through W-2 employment. Daily and long-term assignment rates depend on education level: candidates with an associate’s degree or at least 48 college credit hours receive $120 per day for daily assignments and $135 per day for long-term assignments; candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher receive $126 per day for daily assignments and $142 per day for long-term assignments. Kokua describes an offer timeline of within one week of applying, daily support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and a potential path to permanent roles at high-performing K–12 schools. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
