About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Manor, Windsor Hills, Dessau, and the surrounding Austin area. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, stepping into teaching assignments and supporting students as positive role models who encourage a love of learning. Teachers can choose their schedule and assignments, work up to five days per week, and may be considered for permanent school roles. Compensation is up to $200 per day, paid weekly via W-2: $129 per day for candidates with 48 or more college credits or an associate degree, $150 per day for candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher, and $200 per day for long-term assignments at all qualification levels. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to take on duties where needed, which may include lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season.
• Must pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Responsibilities

• Teach and supervise K–12 students in classroom assignments.
• Manage a classroom and carry out the needs of the assignment.
