About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in Converse and the surrounding San Antonio area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, step into teaching assignments, and serve as positive role models who help spark students’ love of learning. Applicants can begin the interview process immediately.

Teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week in assignments they choose. Daily positions pay $140 per day, while long-term positions pay $172 per day, with weekly pay through W-2 employment. The role may also involve lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Believe that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
• Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.

Responsibilities

• Teach in K–12 school assignments, covering lesson plans as needed.
• Manage a classroom of students.
