About The Position
The Store Support employee provides customer service at the point of sale, assisting customers by phone and at checkout with sales, returns, and other transactions. The role helps keep service quick and enjoyable, supports customers with fashion and product information, and promotes store events, gift cards, and Nordstrom Rewards. The employee helps keep the department organized and ready for customers by straightening, lightly cleaning, and restocking the cash wrap and sales floor. The position may also support other store areas, including order fulfillment and order pick-up. The role requires flexibility to work a schedule based on business needs and to support physical tasks involving merchandise and customer assistance.
Requirements
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and customer requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization and follow-through.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Computer proficiency and interest in learning new computer applications.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Ability to move continuously for 6–8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to handle bulky and awkwardly shaped items, including reaching for and lifting items above the head.
- Ability to regularly lift items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift items up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers by phone and at checkout with sales, returns, and other transactions while providing excellent customer service.
- Listen to customer needs and provide quick, easy, and enjoyable service.
- Help keep the department ready for customers by straightening, lightly cleaning, and restocking the cash wrap area and sales floor.
- Stay informed about fashion trends and products to help customers make purchase decisions.
- Build customer relationships by sharing information about upcoming events, Nordstrom gift cards, and the Nordstrom Rewards program.
- Support other areas of the store, including order fulfillment and order pick-up.
