About The Position

The Retail Store Supervisor is a full-time position focused on providing customers with comprehensive solutions across Technology, Services, Furniture, and Print offerings. The Supervisor builds customer relationships, provides product and service guidance, uses sales principles to engage customers and drive sales, and supports a customer-centric environment and positive culture aligned with Office Depot’s 5C values: Caring, Committed, Creative, Collaborative, and Courageous. The role also includes training associates on products, selling techniques, attachments, and services.

The Supervisor supports sales and service excellence, team development, and store operations. Full-time Supervisors perform External Key Carrier responsibilities, including maintaining building and associate safety and security when other managers are absent, and opening and closing the store. The schedule must be flexible to meet business needs, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. The role may require consent to periodic comprehensive third-party background checks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years of related experience; retail, sales, customer-facing, and/or supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Technology and Print, including use of relevant equipment and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Strong selling, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead, coach, and train others, and work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfort using technology and systems to complete daily responsibilities.
• Problem-solving, conflict management, time management, and business acumen.
• Ability to drive results, direct others effectively, make sound decisions, and collaborate well.
• Adaptability, accountability, and open availability to meet business needs, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Ability to perform opening and closing responsibilities as an External Key Carrier.
• May be required to consent to periodic comprehensive background checks conducted by a third party.

Responsibilities

• Build trust, brand loyalty, and exceptional customer service; promote suitable products and additional product or service solutions.
• Use the selling program, stay aware of planned advertisements and promotions, and educate customers about Office Depot products and services.
• Evaluate customer needs to determine a total solution and use communication tools to request sales-floor assistance and coordinate customer engagement.
• Guide, direct, and train store associates, including Print Services associates, and facilitate training on the business model and holistic service offering.
• Observe, coach, and provide feedback to improve associate proficiency and build trust and brand loyalty.
• Provide the General Manager with feedback on associates’ performance, certifications, and competencies.
• Process merchandise accurately and efficiently in accordance with procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.
• Identify process improvements and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
• Ensure regular loss prevention compliance and assist the General Manager with associate guidance and coaching.
• Contribute to sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
• Maintain building and associate safety and security when other managers are absent.
• Perform opening and closing duties, including activating and deactivating the store alarm system, cash handling, and daily store balancing.
• Fulfill responsibilities associated with the External Key Carrier designation.
• Perform other responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
