GNC’s Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused, full-time hourly supervisory role designed to prepare an individual to manage a store. Under the leadership of a Store Manager or District Manager, the SMIT participates in hands-on training and work assignments to learn how to operate a store, drive results, and develop and lead a team. The role is a fast track to management, but selection does not guarantee promotion. After 90 days, performance is assessed to determine eligibility for promotion, considering factors including performance, available openings, and willingness to accept a promotion at any location in the designated market. The SMIT supports daily store operations, business performance, product management, customer service, sales, and team development while representing GNC’s brand and “Live Well” message. The position involves retail work, including opening and closing the facility, cash handling, inventory counts, and deposits. SMITs are expected to work five days and 40 hours per week, with schedules that vary by store location and include evenings, weekends, and major U.S. holidays when the store is open. The work involves standing or walking for up to eight hours, frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and repetitive hand motions, lifting and pushing/pulling items, climbing ladders, and using a computer for up to 60% of the day.
