About The Position

The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare the employee for a CVS Store Manager position. The 16-week, self-paced and collaborative program includes virtual and hands-on learning experiences. Development support is provided by a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

The SMIT supports the store as a member of the management team, develops leadership capabilities, and works toward promotion. Promotion to Store Manager is not guaranteed and depends on factors including performance and opening availability. The role requires willingness to accept a Store Manager promotion anywhere in the designated market and to transfer among CVS Pharmacy stores within that market. Work schedules may vary based on business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
• Willingness to accept a Store Manager promotion at any location in the designated market.
• Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.
• Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

• A four-year college degree; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Responsibilities

• Participate actively in Key Learning Experiences with a leader during the structured development program.
• Support the store as a management team member and lead consistently with CVS values and policies.
• Engage colleagues in support of the company’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to support and lead the team.
• Perform customer care duties and provide high levels of service.
• Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
• Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
• Accept promotion opportunities and transfers to Store Manager roles at locations within the designated market.
