About The Position

The Steward performs duties required to maintain kitchen work areas and kitchen equipment in a clean and orderly condition. The position is based at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. This is a full-time role; days and hours may vary, and availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays is required. No previous experience is required. The pay range is $15.00 to $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• No previous experience is required.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
• Follow safe lifting practices and use slip-resistant shoes.
• Use medium-weight cut gloves when handling or using knives, peelers, choppers, or mandolins, or when cleaning a slicer.
• Use oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers, or steam tables.
• Be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors at appropriate intervals to comply with safety and sanitation standards.
• Operate large electric machines, including dishwashers, sanitizers, trash compactors, and glass crushers.
• Wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other assigned food-preparation surfaces.
• Segregate and remove trash and garbage, place it in designated containers, and steam-clean or hose out garbage cans in assigned areas.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other food-preparation machines and equipment.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas while following safe lifting standards.
• Assist with banquet table and front-of-house setup as requested.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and delivering supplies and products.
• Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed.
• Comply with all sanitation and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
