About The Position

The Steward maintains kitchen work areas and kitchen equipment in a clean and orderly condition. The role includes cleaning floors, work surfaces, equipment, and waste containers; washing dishes and food-preparation equipment; and safely moving supplies and equipment. The Steward may also assist with banquet and front-of-house setup, receive and deliver supplies, and distribute utensils and portable equipment. The position is at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in Baltimore, Maryland. The schedule is Monday through Friday, either 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; schedule details are provided during the interview. Prior food-service experience is preferred, but training is available. The fixed pay rate is $18.75 per hour.

Responsibilities

Sweep and mop floors at appropriate intervals to meet safety and sanitation standards.
Operate large electric machines, including dishwashers, sanitizers, trash compactors, and glass crushers.
Wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other assigned food-preparation surfaces.
Segregate and remove trash and garbage, place it in designated containers, and steam-clean or hose out garbage cans in assigned areas.
Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other food-preparation machines and equipment.
Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas while observing safe-lifting standards.
Assist with banquet table and front-of-house setup as requested.
Assist with loading, unloading, and delivering supplies and product.
Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed.
Comply with sanitation and safety requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
