About The Position

Rubrik is seeking a Staff Product Manager to own Oracle product strategy and outcomes within its Databases product team. The role also leads initiatives across multiple databases in partnership with the product managers responsible for them. This is an individual contributor position reporting to the Director of Product Management, Databases. The Product Manager will work with engineering teams in the US and India and partner with customers, support, sales engineering, and external partners. Success includes setting a clear Oracle roadmap, becoming Rubrik’s go-to Oracle product expert, shipping improvements customers notice, and leading cross-database initiatives.

  • Experience running Oracle in production, supporting it, or building products for it, with the ability to discuss its architecture in depth with engineers.
  • Typically 8 or more years of product management experience for technical enterprise products, or equivalent experience as a DBA, solutions architect, or sales engineer whose decisions influenced what a team built or bought.
  • Comfort engaging with customers at all levels, from DBAs to CIOs.
  • Clear, precise written and verbal communication, including the ability to turn complex situations into concise decision-making documents.
  • A zero-to-one mindset, willingness to create plans for undefined work, and readiness to take on necessary work regardless of title.
  • Fluency with AI tools for research and writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Exadata, Oracle Database Appliance, or Oracle Database on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience with other enterprise databases, such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Db2.
  • Background in data protection, disaster recovery, or cyber resilience.
  • Experience working with customers in banking, insurance, healthcare, or government.
  • Experience owning recovery for another enterprise database or for storage, along with experience working with Oracle.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Oracle roadmap for protection and recovery across RAC, Exadata, Data Guard, on-premises, and cloud deployments; weigh recovery speed, data loss, and effort in product decisions.
  • Lead customer discussions with DBAs and executives, and explain Rubrik’s position alongside Oracle tools and other vendors.
  • Represent product during significant restore escalations, coordinate with support, engineering, customer DBAs, and executives, and address underlying product causes.
  • Drive initiatives spanning multiple databases, including application recovery sequencing and backup restore validation, and help determine which databases to protect next.
  • Use customer conversations, product usage, and support data to prioritize work and make business cases; write clear, reasoned product requirements.
  • Support product launches by providing sales engineers with positioning and training, joining large enterprise deals, working with partners such as Oracle and Everpure, and tracking adoption.
