Staff Product Manager

Checkr•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Checkr is hiring a Staff Product Manager to own the end-to-end client experience for Truv by Checkr’s government business, from contract signature through go-live and sustained adoption. The role focuses on making it faster and easier for government agencies, system integrators, and developers to launch live verifications and continue receiving value afterward. The Staff Product Manager leads onboarding and activation across engineering, design, implementation, and customer success, working directly with agency program leaders, eligibility caseworkers, and integration partners. The role translates client feedback into products that reduce friction, supports the growth of Checkr’s government business, and helps ensure onboarding and data flows meet public-sector requirements. The position also aligns cross-functional teams around an activation strategy and mentors other product managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of product management experience, including ownership of B2B or B2G onboarding, activation, implementation, or developer experience products.
  • Experience shipping products in regulated, multi-stakeholder environments such as government, healthcare, insurance, or financial services, where compliance, security, or third-party partners shaped the product.
  • Record of improving time-to-value metrics, such as time to go-live, activation rate, or adoption depth, with quantified results.
  • Analytical skill to define appropriate metrics and translate data into product changes.
  • Comfort with technical products and ability to partner closely with engineers and speak credibly with client developers about APIs, integrations, and configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with user research and usability testing, and experimentation where appropriate.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, synthesize input from many stakeholders, and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear, structured written and verbal communication with audiences ranging from agency executives and caseworkers to engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Record of delivering products used by state or federal agencies.
  • Experience with public benefits programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, or child support, or with eligibility systems.
  • Experience at a startup or high-growth company.

Responsibilities

  • Own and improve the agency lifecycle after contract signature, including onboarding, implementation, configuration, go-live, and post-launch adoption.
  • Partner with Sales to help ensure agency demonstrations prepare clients for a smooth start.
  • Develop a self-serve onboarding and activation experience wherever possible.
  • Identify technical, procedural, and organizational barriers between contract signature and the first live production verification, and deliver products that remove them.
  • Design configuration and customization capabilities in the Truv dashboard for agency administrators, caseworkers, and technical teams.
  • Work with agency IT teams, system integrators, and eligibility system vendors to streamline integrations through documentation, sandbox environments, best practices, and implementation tooling.
  • Define activation and adoption metrics, improve visibility for internal teams and clients, and use data and client behavior to prioritize product improvements.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing with agency staff and end users; gather feedback from implementation and go-live and translate it into prioritized product plans.
  • Partner with compliance, legal, and security teams to ensure onboarding and data flows meet public-sector requirements.
  • Align product, engineering, design, implementation, customer success, sales, and marketing around a shared activation strategy.
  • Mentor other product managers and raise product craft across the team.
