About The Position

Komodo Health is hiring a Staff Product Designer for its AI Platform and Services organization. The organization builds the platform used by Komodo’s AI products, including agent infrastructure, evaluations, data context, and customer-facing experiences. The role has broad influence across the company: establish and encode Komodo’s design language, patterns, and quality standards into skills and tools that product managers, engineers, and forward deployed teams use to build prototypes and products. The designer will also personally tackle complex product-design problems, including interfaces for AI systems that communicate plans, progress, sources, and confidence and allow people to check and correct outputs. The role will prototype with AI tools and use Figma when appropriate, improve shared tools when recurring design issues arise, and help teams deliver products that meet a consistent quality bar. Within the first 12 months, the role is expected to document and encode Komodo’s design language; make high-quality design the default in prototypes and products and measure quality on releases; design and ship agentic interaction patterns in the flagship product and at least one other product, with measured improvements in task success or adoption; and personally design and prototype at least two flagship experiences from concept through general availability. The role is open to remote work or hybrid work near company hubs. The position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses and equity awards. Benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; flexible time off and holidays; a 401(k) with company match; disability and life insurance; and applicable leaves of absence.

Requirements

  • Exceptional visual, interaction, and content design craft; a portfolio is required, and candidates will be asked what they would change in each piece.
  • Ability to build working prototypes and demonstrate real UI built with AI tools; ability to fix a component in code. The interview includes a building exercise.
  • Daily use of Claude or similar AI tools in design work, with understanding of how AI reads a skill, why output drifts, and how to make the desired output the default.
  • Experience building a design system, skill, component library, or toolkit adopted by people outside the candidate’s team, with evidence that it changed what shipped.
  • Experience designing AI products in which AI performs meaningful work, including how interfaces present reasoning, sources, and uncertainty and let people check outputs.
  • At least 8 years of product design experience, including leading design for a complex B2B, data, or analytics product from first prototype to scale.
  • Excellent written communication and the ability to provide clear guidance that people and AI follow.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare or regulated-data experience, such as claims, EHR, patient journeys, or provider analytics.
  • Data visualization experience for dense analytic workflows.
  • A front-end engineering background.
  • Experience taking a design system through a platform or brand transition.

Responsibilities

  • Own and document Komodo’s design language, including principles, typography, color, motion, voice, and core patterns, in a form people and AI can follow.
  • Build, maintain, version, measure, and improve skills, components, and templates used by people working with AI.
  • Design complex AI interfaces, dense analytic workflows, and new products; prototype with AI tools and use Figma when it is the faster tool.
  • Address recurring design issues at their source by improving the relevant skill or tool rather than only changing an individual screen.
  • Help product managers, engineers, and forward deployed teams build prototypes and ship products that meet Komodo’s design standards.
  • Set and maintain a product quality bar, with design quality assessed on releases.
  • Design and ship interaction patterns for agentic work, including plans, progress, sources, confidence, and correction.
  • Design and prototype flagship experiences and take them from concept to general availability.
