About The Position

The Product Development PLM IT Organization at GM is seeking a Sr. Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Solutions Engineer to serve as the primary liaison between Engineering business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. As part of a major transformation consolidating legacy systems into Siemens Teamcenter, this role translates business requirements into scalable product structure, vehicle engineering BOM, and part management solutions. The position defines functional blueprints, maps complex product structures, and collaborates with PLM architects, developers, data migration teams, and technical delivery partners to align Teamcenter configurations, data models, integrations, and module deployments with business needs. The role supports a modern PLM foundation for accurate product definition, efficient design and release processes, strong data governance, and consistent adoption across vehicle programs. It involves designing product BOM and variant solutions, defining engineering change workflows, guiding development, validating deployments, and leading user acceptance testing, training, and transitions to production.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in an applicable business environment, specifically focusing on Siemens Teamcenter PLM solutions architecture, deployment, and hands-on environment configuration.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical literacy in installing, patching, tuning, and configuring multi-tier Teamcenter environments, including Web, Enterprise, and FMS/FSC tiers.
  • Thorough understanding of vehicle program lifecycles, component tracking, and variant-rich configuration management involving options and features.
  • Robust understanding of automotive product lifecycles, configuration management, and large-scale Teamcenter enterprise transformations.
  • Knowledge of BMIDE configuration and data modeling, including business objects, properties, LOVs, relationships, and revision rules.
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter out-of-the-box configuration and customization.
  • Knowledge of ITK and SOA development requirements.
  • Knowledge of workflow and change management, including workflow templates, signoffs, task handlers, and access managers.
  • Knowledge of Active Workspace and RAC.
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter services and architecture, including TcSS, FMS, microservices, Web, and Enterprise tiers.
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter Deployment Center and environment deployments.
  • Knowledge of Dispatcher, indexing, search, and cacheless architecture.
  • Ability to address Teamcenter performance, scalability, and troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to direct, prioritize, and coach team members while cultivating an accountable, high-performing team culture.
  • Proven knowledge of large-scale PLM migrations, legacy data strategies, system decommissioning, and global user rollouts.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead high-visibility meetings and facilitate end-user sessions using probing questions to elicit clear requirements.
  • Highly structured approach to managing personal output and driving team sprint velocity.
  • Proactive approach to executing tasks, building functional blueprints, debugging environment configurations, and driving projects to completion.
  • Strong risk-management capability to identify system bottlenecks, downstream ERP data drops, or design gaps early.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical Teamcenter dependencies for executive review with little to no direction.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workshops with engineering and business stakeholders to understand data structures, engineering change cycles, and variant management needs, and translate findings into technical specifications.
  • Design end-to-end solutions for multi-level Product BOMs, variant configurations, effectivity controls, and alignment between Engineering BOMs (eBOM) and Design BOMs (dBOM).
  • Determine where to use Teamcenter out-of-the-box capabilities versus customization, and map business objects, attributes, and relationships for technical implementation in BMIDE.
  • Provide the PLM Technical Lead and development team with functional requirements, structural wireframes, and business logic to guide custom development.
  • Architect functional flows for engineering change management, including workflow templates and access managers that meet business compliance rules.
  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validate deployments against business intent, and lead functional troubleshooting.
  • Develop business process models, functional and non-functional user stories, and product backlogs from project definition through production transition.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to develop and execute UAT and training plans for application transitions.
  • Independently lead and facilitate end-user workshops, elicit detailed business process information, and map complex process flow diagrams.

Benefits

  • Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy.
  • GM describes well-being support at work and at home and directs employees to Total Rewards resources.
