About The Position

General Motors’ Product Development PLM IT Organization is seeking a Sr. Teamcenter PLM Solutions Engineer to serve as the primary liaison between Engineering business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. The position supports a major transformation consolidating legacy systems into Siemens Teamcenter. It translates business requirements into scalable product structure, vehicle engineering BOM, and part management solutions, defining functional blueprints and mapping complex product structures. The role collaborates with PLM architects, developers, data migration teams, and technical delivery partners so Teamcenter configurations, data models, integrations, and module deployments meet business needs. Its broader goal is to establish a modern PLM foundation for accurate product definition, efficient design and release processes, strong data governance, and consistent adoption across vehicle programs. The engineer leads requirements workshops and designs end-to-end solutions for multi-level Product BOMs, variant configurations, effectivity controls, and alignment between Engineering BOMs and Design BOMs. They define the use of Teamcenter out-of-the-box capabilities versus customization, provide functional requirements and business logic to technical teams, and shape engineering change processes. The role also owns business process models, user stories, and product backlogs from project definition through production transition, and leads UAT, troubleshooting, training, and application transition planning.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in an applicable business environment, specifically focused on Siemens Teamcenter PLM solutions architecture, deployment, and hands-on environment configuration.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical literacy in installing, patching, tuning, and configuring multi-tier Teamcenter environments, including Web, Enterprise, and FMS/FSC tiers.
  • Thorough understanding of vehicle program lifecycles, component tracking, and variant-rich configuration management involving options and features.
  • Robust understanding of automotive product lifecycles, configuration management, and large-scale Teamcenter enterprise transformations.
  • Knowledge of BMIDE configuration and data modeling, including business objects, properties, LOVs, relationships, and revision rules.
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter out-of-the-box configuration and customization.
  • Knowledge of ITK and SOA development requirements.
  • Knowledge of workflow and change management, including workflow templates, signoffs, task handlers, and access managers.
  • Knowledge of Active Workspace and RAC.
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter services, including TcSS, FMS, microservices, and Web and Enterprise tiers.
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter Deployment Center and environment deployments.
  • Knowledge of Dispatcher, indexing, search, and cacheless architecture.
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter performance, scalability, and troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to direct, prioritize, and coach team members while cultivating an accountable, high-performing team culture.
  • Proven knowledge of large-scale PLM migrations, legacy data strategies, system decommissioning, and global user rollouts.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead high-visibility meetings and facilitate end-user sessions using probing questions to elicit clear requirements.
  • Highly structured approach to managing personal output and driving team sprint velocity.
  • Proactive approach to executing tasks, building functional blueprints, debugging environment configurations, and driving projects to completion.
  • Strong risk-management capability to identify system bottlenecks, downstream ERP data drops, or design gaps early.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical Teamcenter dependencies for executive review with little to no direction.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workshops with engineering and business stakeholders to understand data structures, engineering change cycles, and variant management needs, and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Design end-to-end solutions for multi-level Product BOMs, variant configurations, effectivity controls, and alignment between Engineering BOMs (eBOM) and Design BOMs (dBOM).
  • Define when to use Teamcenter out-of-the-box capabilities versus customization, and map business objects, attributes, and relationships for technical implementation in BMIDE.
  • Work with the PLM Technical Lead and development team to provide functional requirements, structural wireframes, and business logic for custom development.
  • Architect functional flows for engineering change management, including workflow templates and access managers aligned with business compliance rules.
  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing, validate deployments against business intent, and lead functional troubleshooting.
  • Own business process models, functional and non-functional user stories, and product backlogs from initial project definition through production transition.
  • Partner with stakeholders to build and execute UAT and training plans for application transitions.
  • Independently lead and facilitate end-user workshops, elicit business process details, and map complex process flow diagrams.

Benefits

  • Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy.
  • GM describes a benefits program intended to support employee well-being at work and at home; further information is available through its Total Rewards resources.
