Sr. Manager, Claims - General Liability
About The Position
Working within Target’s Risk Management organization, the Sr. Manager, Claims – General Liability/Auto Liability manages claims processes and outcomes for litigated and non-litigated claims. The role serves as a subject matter expert, develops claim negotiation strategies, and provides claims authority within the role’s designated authority level. It partners with Target’s third-party administrator (TPA) to establish and execute routines that support quality claims handling, positive outcomes, and reduced claim severity. The position also monitors KPIs and reviews trends to support real-time program adjustments, works closely with Target Legal on litigated claims, and collaborates cross-functionally to execute programs that support Target’s claims philosophy across the organization. Job duties may change based on business needs. The role uses a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement. Core duties are performed both onsite at Target headquarters in Minnesota and virtually, depending on role, team, and daily tasks. The position is assigned to the Target HQ MN location and is onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Work duties must be performed within the country of the primary work location unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
Requirements
- Knowledge of general liability claims.
- Understanding of data, financial, and actuarial reports.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage outcomes and processes for litigated and non-litigated general liability and auto liability claims.
- Develop claim negotiation strategies and provide claims authority within the role’s authority level.
- Work with Target’s TPA to develop and execute routines that promote quality claims handling, positive outcomes, and reduced claim severity.
- Monitor KPIs and review trends to inform real-time program adjustments.
- Build a strong relationship with Target Legal to manage and make recommendations on litigated claims.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to execute programs that support Target’s claims philosophy across the organization.
