About The Position

Tutor Me Education is hiring tutors with special education experience to provide one-on-one, in-home tutoring to students with special needs in Los Angeles, California. The tutor will provide personalized instruction based on the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), assist with daily activities, and offer moral support. Instruction focuses on foundational reading, handwriting, and math, with strategies tailored to the student’s needs and learning pace.

The role is in person and is scheduled for 25 hours per month, with five sessions per week lasting 1.25 hours each. The pay rate is $25 to $35. Requirements

• Experience working with students with ADHD, autism, and learning differences.
• Be patient and encouraging, and able to maintain structure while keeping sessions engaging.
• Be skilled in repetition, guided practice, and individualized instruction suited to the student’s learning pace.
• Be able to incorporate the student’s interests and preferred learning tools to encourage participation and motivation.

• A background in special education, tutoring, or individualized academic support.

Responsibilities

• Support handwriting development, including using typing on an iPad or another electronic device when appropriate.
• Strengthen reading fluency, comprehension, phonemic awareness, and phonics skills.
• Teach foundational math concepts and skills, emphasizing retention and consistency.
• Use repetition and step-by-step instruction to reinforce previously learned concepts.
• Maintain a structured, encouraging learning environment and help the student stay engaged and complete academic tasks.
• Incorporate the student’s interests into learning activities when appropriate.
• Track the student’s progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet their needs.
• Help the student with daily activities and provide moral support.
