About The Position

Reading Corps Reading Tutors serve at local schools to help students improve their reading skills. Tutors are trained to deliver proven activities and receive ongoing coaching. Each school day, they work with pairs of students in 20-minute reading-practice sessions, follow a schedule to serve students, and encourage students as they build skills and confidence. Tutors assess student skills, track progress, enter scores into data software, and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach. The program is powered by AmeriCorps members and administered by Ampact, a nonprofit organization. The 2026–27 school-year positions run January 2026 through June 2027. The full-time schedule is 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks with holidays or school release days, during daytime school hours Monday through Friday. Part-time positions are also available at 20 hours per week. AmeriCorps members have a total service-hour commitment and may occasionally complete approved service or training outside the school day as needed.
