About The Position

Reading Corps is hiring Reading Tutors to serve students at local schools during the 2026–27 school year. Tutors lead structured reading practice, typically working with pairs of students for 20 minutes at a time and following a schedule until all assigned students have been served. Tutors help students build reading skills and confidence through encouragement and support. Training and ongoing coaching are provided. The positions run from August 2026 through June 2027. The full-time schedule is 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks that include holidays or school release days. Daytime hours correspond with school start and end times, Monday through Friday. Part-time positions are also available at 25 and 15 hours per week. AmeriCorps members have a total service-hour commitment for the program year; most hours are completed at the service site, and approved service or training outside the school day may occasionally be scheduled as needed. Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a stipend every two weeks, at a rate of $17.50 per hour served, and additional benefits. Reading Corps is administered by Ampact, a nonprofit organization, and is powered by AmeriCorps members serving as tutors.
