About The Position

Reading Corps is hiring Reading Tutors to help students improve their reading skills at a local school. Tutors receive training to deliver proven reading activities and ongoing coaching. Each school day, tutors work with pairs of students for 20-minute reading practice sessions, help students return to their classrooms, and move on to the next pair according to a schedule. Tutors encourage students as they develop reading skills and confidence. The positions are for the 2026–27 school year and run from January 2027 through May 2027. Full-time positions are 37.5 hours per week, with fewer hours in weeks that include holidays or school release days. Part-time positions of 27.5 hours per week are also available. Work is during daytime school hours, Monday through Friday, with no weekends. Time off is provided on holidays and school release days. AmeriCorps members have a total service-hour commitment for the program year; most service hours are completed at their regular site, and members may occasionally complete approved service or training outside the school day as needed.
