About The Position

Tutor Me Education is hiring a tutor to provide personalized, one-on-one in-home tutoring to students with special needs in Los Angeles, California. The tutor will deliver tailored instruction based on the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), provide support with daily activities, and offer moral support while helping the student achieve academic success.

The tutoring is in person, with a schedule of 25 hours per month across five weekly sessions, each lasting 1.25 hours. Instruction focuses on foundational reading, handwriting, and math. The tutor will adapt instruction to the student's learning pace and needs, use repetition and guided practice, and incorporate the student's interests and preferred learning tools to support engagement and motivation. The role also involves tracking progress and adjusting instructional strategies as needed.

Requirements

• Experience working with students with ADHD, autism, and learning differences.
• Be patient and encouraging, and able to maintain structure while keeping sessions engaging.
• Be skilled in providing repetition, guided practice, and individualized instruction based on the student's learning pace.
• Be able to incorporate the student's interests and preferred learning tools to encourage participation and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring in the student's home.
• Deliver tailored instruction based on the student's IEP.
• Support handwriting development, using typing on an iPad or another electronic device when appropriate.
• Strengthen reading fluency, comprehension, phonemic awareness, and phonics skills.
• Teach foundational math concepts and skills, emphasizing retention and consistency.
• Use repetition and step-by-step instruction to reinforce previously learned concepts.
• Maintain a structured, encouraging learning environment and help the student stay engaged and complete academic tasks.
• Incorporate the student's interests into learning activities when appropriate.
• Track the student's progress and adjust instructional strategies based on their needs.
• Help with daily activities and offer moral support.
