About The Position

Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department including A-station, presort, and imaging. Handle pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory. Perform centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens. Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner. Learn and understand specimen types related to tests ordered. Maintain compliance with regulations related to test ordering. Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures. Keep work area neat and clean. Perform accessioning and data entry tasks while meeting productivity standards.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of computers.
• Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
• Ability to work in a biohazard environment while practicing safety habits.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime as required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive environment.
• Ability to adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.
• Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
• Previous hospital laboratory experience.
• Previous experience in a production environment.
