About The Position

Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. Handle presort, pickup, and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory. Perform imaging, microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting. Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner. Learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests. Maintain compliance with regulations related to test ordering. Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures. Keep work area neat and clean.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of computers.
• Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
• Ability to work in a biohazard environment practicing safety habits.
• Availability for nightshift, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment.
• Ability to adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility.
• Ability to sit for long periods.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.
• Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
• Previous hospital laboratory experience.
• Previous experience in a production environment.
