About The Position

Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department including A-station and presort. Handle pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory. Perform imaging, microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting of specimens. Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner. Learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests. Maintain compliance with regulations related to test ordering. Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures. Keep work area neat and clean. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of computers.
  • Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
  • Ability to work in a biohazard environment practicing safety habits.
  • Availability for nightshift, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change and maintain flexibility.
  • Data Entry.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.
  • Previous laboratory experience.
  • Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
  • Previous hospital laboratory experience.
  • Previous experience in a production environment.
