About The Position

The Specialty Artist – MAC maximizes sales for the MAC brand, including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance, by determining guests’ needs, assisting with merchandise selection and purchases, and maintaining store standards such as cleanliness and replenishment. The role represents Ulta Beauty and MAC to guests and supports the Experience Manager through a focus on performance, people, and process. It calls for professional-caliber makeup artistry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge. The Specialty Artist provides personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons; skincare analyses; and product demonstrations. The role builds guest relationships and clientele, meets sales and service goals, supports appointments and events, shares product and trend knowledge, and contributes to an inclusive store environment. It also supports daily operations, merchandising, inventory, hygiene, loss prevention, and compliance with company and brand standards.

Requirements

Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
Demonstrated competency in sales, products, and service.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle guest concerns positively and proactively and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to attend brand-sponsored trainings.

Responsibilities

Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omnichannel, and retail shrink.
Build and maintain guest relationships, follow up on inquiries, and maintain an active preferred guest list and MAC clientele portfolio.
Greet and engage guests, personalize service, offer samples, and recommend complementary products and services.
Conduct professional-caliber makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons; skincare analyses; and product demonstrations according to brand standards.
Study and practice Skill Certification requirements and complete appropriate skill sets within specified time frames.
Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives and communicate them to guests.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events that provide a strong guest experience and meet sales goals.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, services, ingredients, and benefits during work time.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
Represent Ulta Beauty and MAC by sharing product knowledge, application techniques, makeup trends, and MAC programs and philosophies, including Back to MAC.
Maintain relationships with MAC brand partners by participating in required training and executing in-store events and promotions.
Participate in ongoing brand and category training and collaborate with store managers and associates to grow the business.
Follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards, as well as the Ulta Beauty and MAC dress code.
Keep the assigned work area replenished, signed, and faced, and maintain testers in compliance with hygiene standards.
Maintain store and MAC operational standards and cleanliness, including participation in the MAC recycling program.
Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory, and shipment processing using provided technology and best practices.
Protect company assets by following loss prevention practices and providing exceptional guest service.
Complete other operational tasks as directed.
