About The Position

The Specialty Artist – MAC maximizes sales in the MAC brand, including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance, by determining guests’ individual needs and assisting them with merchandise selection and purchases. The artist maintains store standards, cleanliness, and replenishment while representing Ulta Beauty and MAC to guests. The role supports the Experience Manager through sales and service performance, guest service and associate culture, operating procedures, and compliance. Professional-caliber makeup artistry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are required.

Requirements

High school diploma is preferred.
Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
Ability to demonstrate significant competency in sales, products, and service.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle guest concerns positively and proactively and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink.
Build and maintain customer relationships, keep in contact with a growing preferred guest list, and follow up on guest inquiries.
Greet and engage guests, personalize service, offer samples, and recommend complementary products or services.
Conduct professional makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons; skincare analyses; and product demonstrations to MAC and Ulta Beauty standards.
Study and practice skill certification requirements and complete appropriate skill sets within the specified timeframe.
Stay informed about and communicate promotions and marketing initiatives across the brand and store.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events that deliver a strong guest experience and meet sales goals.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services and their ingredients and benefits.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and internal and external guests.
Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
Maintain and update an active MAC clientele portfolio.
Represent Ulta Beauty and MAC by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, trend information, and MAC programs and philosophies, including Back to MAC.
Maintain relationships with MAC brand partners through required training and in-store events and promotions.
Participate in ongoing brand and category training to support professional development and MAC sales performance.
Collaborate with store managers and associates to help grow the business.
Know and follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
Follow the Ulta Beauty and MAC dress code, including wearing brand assets as directed.
Keep the assigned work area replenished, signed, and faced, and maintain testers in accordance with hygiene standards.
Maintain store and MAC operational standards, participate in the MAC recycling program, and keep assigned areas clean.
Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory, and shipment processing using company-provided technology and best practices.
Protect company assets by following loss prevention practices and providing exceptional guest service.
Complete other operational tasks as directed.
Attend brand-sponsored trainings.
