About The Position

The Specialty Artist – MAC maximizes sales for the MAC brand, including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance, by identifying guest needs, assisting with merchandise selection and purchases, and maintaining store standards. The role represents Ulta Beauty and MAC to guests and supports the Experience Manager through sales and service performance, guest service and associate culture, and compliance with operating procedures. It requires professional-caliber makeup artistry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

The artist delivers personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations; builds guest relationships and a clientele portfolio; supports appointments, in-store events, promotions, and brand training; and contributes to sales, loyalty, and store goals. The role also maintains merchandise presentation, testers, cleanliness, and operational standards, and participates in inventory, shipment processing, loss prevention, and MAC recycling activities.

The position requires a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and attendance at brand-sponsored trainings. Physical requirements include frequent mobility and standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting; continuous lifting or moving of up to 10 pounds; and continuous coordination and manipulation of objects. Requirements

• High school diploma is preferred.
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
• Demonstrated competency in sales, products, and service.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omnichannel performance, and retail shrink.
• Build and maintain guest relationships, maintain an active preferred guest list, and follow up on guest inquiries.
• Greet and engage guests, personalize service, offer samples, and recommend complementary products and services.
• Conduct professional-caliber makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations according to MAC and Ulta Beauty standards.
• Study and practice Skill Certification requirements and complete appropriate skill sets within specified time frames.
• Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives and communicate them to guests.
• Book appointments and support services and in-store events that provide a strong guest experience and meet sales goals.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, services, ingredients, and benefits during work time.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
• Explain the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, to guests on the salesfloor.
• Maintain and update an active MAC clientele portfolio.
• Represent Ulta Beauty and MAC by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, trend information, and MAC programs and philosophies, including Back to MAC.
• Maintain relationships with MAC brand partners by participating in required training and executing in-store events and promotions.
• Participate in ongoing brand and category training and professional development.
• Collaborate with store managers and associates to help grow the business.
• Follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow the Ulta Beauty and MAC dress code, including wearing brand assets as directed.
• Replenish, sign, and face the assigned work area and maintain testers according to hygiene standards.
• Maintain store and MAC operational standards and cleanliness, participate in the MAC recycling program, and clean assigned areas as needed.
• Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory, and shipment processing using provided technology and best practices.
• Protect company assets by following loss-prevention practices and providing exceptional guest service.
• Perform other operational tasks as directed.
