About The Position
At DICK’S Sporting Goods, the Specialist Apparel helps athletes find apparel for performance and everyday wear by combining product and merchandise expertise with strong customer service. The role delivers engaging, confidence-building shopping experiences, provides knowledgeable product information, and recommends products and services based on athletes’ needs. The Specialist also serves as a subject matter expert in a designated store area, supporting team-member onboarding and training and helping ensure efficient execution of operational processes. The role maintains merchandise presentation standards, encourages participation in company programs, and contributes to a welcoming, respectful, and safe store environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience.

- Previous retail or customer-facing experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Proactively engage athletes to understand their shopping needs and deliver an outstanding shopping experience.
- Provide clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment.
- Anticipate athlete needs and drive sales through product and service recommendations.
- Assist with onboarding and training new and existing team members, focusing on selling skills, best practices, and operational processes.
- Serve as a go-to expert in designated process categories to support smooth execution and productivity.
- Execute processes efficiently while maintaining an athlete-first mindset, ensuring products are ready for purchase and athletes are engaged appropriately.
- Maintain company merchandising and presentation standards, including floor-set plans, signage, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment.
- Promote customer participation in company programs, including the customer loyalty program, warranty sales, and private-label credit card enrollment.
- Help create a store environment where teammates and athletes are welcomed and treated with respect.
- Follow safety, loss-prevention, standard operating, and applicable external governing policies and guidelines.
