About The Position

At DICK’S Sporting Goods, the Specialist – Apparel delivers an engaging, confidence-building shopping experience by connecting athletes with apparel for performance and everyday wear. The role combines product and merchandise expertise with strong customer service to support sales and bring style, comfort, and performance together.

The Specialist proactively engages athletes to understand their needs, provides knowledgeable product information, and recommends products and services. As a subject matter expert in an assigned store area, the Specialist also supports onboarding and training, helps execute operational processes, and maintains merchandising and presentation standards. The role contributes to a welcoming store environment and follows applicable safety, loss-prevention, and operating policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience.

• Previous retail or customer-facing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proactively engage athletes to understand their shopping needs and deliver an outstanding shopping experience.
• Provide clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment.
• Anticipate athlete needs and drive sales through product and service recommendations.
• Assist with onboarding and training new and existing team members, sharing best practices, selling skills, and operational processes.
• Serve as a go-to expert in designated process categories to support smooth execution and productivity.
• Execute processes efficiently while ensuring products are ready for purchase and athletes are engaged appropriately.
• Maintain merchandising and presentation standards, including floor-set plans, signage, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment.
• Promote customer participation in company programs, including loyalty programs, warranty sales, and private-label credit card enrollment.
• Help create a store environment where teammates and athletes are welcome and treated with respect.
• Follow company policies and procedures for safety, loss prevention, and standard operations, as well as applicable external laws and guidelines.
