About The Position
Paramount Home Health Care is seeking a dependable, patient caregiver to support an independent individual with special needs in Palm Harbor, Florida. The caregiver will provide supervision and companionship, encourage independence, and help the patient participate safely in community outings and activities. The role calls for someone who can recognize signs of distress and respond calmly using appropriate crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques. A mature male caregiver is preferred, but not stated as a requirement. The schedule is Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, for 36 hours per week. A reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and current automobile insurance are required. Mileage reimbursement is available for approved patient-related transportation and community activities, subject to agency policies.
Requirements
- Previous experience caring for or supporting individuals with special needs is strongly preferred.
- Be dependable, patient, responsible, and mature.
- Have a reliable personal vehicle.
- Possess a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
- Be comfortable transporting or accompanying the patient into the community.
- Be able to remain calm and safely manage challenging behaviors or crisis situations.
- Have strong communication skills and sound judgment.
- Be able to commit to Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday shifts.

Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and support to an individual with special needs.
- Accompany the patient into the community for outings, recreational activities, and other approved activities.
- Encourage independence while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
- Recognize signs of distress and use appropriate crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain patience, professionalism, and a calm demeanor during challenging situations.
- Assist with community participation and daily activities as needed.
- Follow the patient's care plan and agency guidelines.
- Communicate relevant concerns and updates to the appropriate parties.
