About The Position

Paramount Home Health Care is seeking a dependable, patient caregiver to support an independent individual with special needs in Palm Harbor, Florida. The caregiver will provide supervision, companionship, and support, encourage independence while maintaining a safe environment, and accompany the patient into the community for approved outings and activities. The role calls for sound judgment and the ability to recognize distress and calmly use appropriate crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques. A mature male caregiver is preferred.

Requirements

Previous experience caring for or supporting individuals with special needs is strongly preferred.
Be mature, dependable, patient, and responsible.
Have a reliable personal vehicle.
Possess a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
Be comfortable transporting or accompanying the patient into the community.
Be able to remain calm and safely manage challenging behaviors or crisis situations.
Have strong communication skills and sound judgment.
Commit to scheduled shifts on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

Responsibilities

Provide supervision and support to an individual with special needs.
Accompany the patient into the community for outings, recreational activities, and other approved activities.
Encourage independence while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
Recognize signs of distress and use appropriate crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.
Maintain patience, professionalism, and a calm demeanor during challenging situations.
Assist with community participation and daily activities as needed.
Follow the patient's care plan and agency guidelines.
Communicate relevant concerns and updates to the appropriate parties.
