About The Position

Brightmont Academy is hiring a part-time Special Education Instructor to provide one-to-one instruction to students in grades 1–12. The instructor uses the provided APEX Learning curriculum and makes accommodations and modifications based on each student’s IEP. The role focuses on supporting the individual student in the classroom; a case manager handles most administrative duties. Experience working with students in ASD, ED, and/or SLD programs is identified as ideal.

Brightmont Academy’s one-to-one teaching model emphasizes lessons tailored to each student’s needs and learning style, gradual-release instruction that supports mastery and confidence, and a focus on teaching without lesson planning, parent conferences, or extensive grading. The position offers a flexible schedule and professional development opportunities. The stated pay range is $30–$40 per hour.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• LBS1 certification.
• Patience and empathy, with a commitment to supporting students with different learning needs.
• Genuine passion for teaching.
• Proficiency using G-Suite and learning management software (LMS).
• Ability to provide fingerprints in Arizona or Washington, where applicable, and pass a federal background check.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in ASD, ED, and/or SLD programs.
