About The Position

Brightmont Academy is hiring a part-time Special Education Instructor to provide one-to-one instruction to students in grades 1–12. The instructor will use the provided APEX Learning curriculum and make accommodations and modifications based on each student’s IEP. The role focuses on supporting the individual student in the classroom; a case manager handles most administrative duties. The ideal candidate has experience working with students in ASD, ED, and/or SLD programs.

Brightmont Academy’s one-to-one teaching model emphasizes tailoring instruction to each student’s needs and learning style and using a gradual-release approach to help students build confidence and achieve academic mastery. Lesson planning, parent conferences, and extensive grading are not part of the role. Professional development opportunities are available. The schedule is flexible.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• LBS1 certification.
• Patience and empathy in supporting students with different learning needs.
• Genuine passion for teaching.
• Proficiency using G-Suite and learning management software (LMS).
• Ability to provide fingerprints in Arizona or Washington, if applicable, and pass a federal background check.

• Experience working in ASD, ED, and/or SLD programs.
