Spanish Speaking ELA Tutor – 6th Grade
About The Position
PRACTICE is seeking a motivated, dependable, bilingual Spanish/English tutor to provide in-person English Language Arts tutoring to 6th-grade scholars. This entry-level opportunity is suited to college students, recent graduates, or others interested in gaining experience in education. The tutor will work alongside classroom teachers to support scholars in English and Spanish as they strengthen reading, writing, and comprehension skills and build confidence in reaching their learning goals. The position pays $27–$30 per hour and follows a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday schedule from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A completion bonus of up to 10% of total program earnings may be available upon successful program completion, subject to eligibility requirements. PRACTICE describes the role as offering consistent part-time hours and valuable classroom experience.
Requirements
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English, including the ability to communicate and explain academic concepts in both languages.
- Interest in working with middle school scholars and supporting their academic development.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt to different learning needs.
- Availability to work at least three weekdays per week during school hours.
- Dependability, professionalism, and commitment to an agreed-upon program schedule.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and collaborate with educators.
Nice To Haves
- Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or youth-development experience; this experience is not required.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in 6th-grade English Language Arts.
- Help scholars strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills.
- Explain academic concepts clearly in English and Spanish to support multilingual learners.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce lessons and address individual learning needs.
- Create an encouraging, inclusive learning environment that promotes scholar participation and academic confidence.
- Maintain consistent attendance, professionalism, and communication throughout the program.
