About The Position

The Spa Director is responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of the department’s development of long-term directions, and support of the hotel’s Vision, Mission, and Values; including profitable financial management, effective leadership, excellent customer service skills, and supervision of department requirements and standards.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • 5 years of spa management experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment required, with a strong emphasis on customer service.
  • Must possess strong business and organizational skills as well as creative energies and the ability to motivate and inspire a talented and diverse spa team.
  • Exceptional skills in running a large spa operation in a seasonal environment.
  • Creating a supportive and nurturing environment that consistently delivers a spa experience that exceeds guests' and Associates' expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the screening and selection of all qualified spa candidates, communicating performance expectations, providing Associates with ongoing feedback, mentoring, and conducting official performance reviews.
  • Providing Associates with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and reach their fullest potential.
  • Overseeing operations in all Spa and Retail departments including Therapy rooms, Guest Reception, Wellness, Pool, and all resort Retail operations.
  • Developing and monitoring financial strategies to increase revenues while controlling operating expenses, monitoring annual budget and forecasts, reviewing monthly financial statements, utilizing yield management strategies, implementing inventory management and purchasing procedures, as well as monitoring and adjusting staffing levels, spa service appointments and operational expenses, to maximize spa profitability.
  • Developing and enforcing standard operating systems.
  • Coordinating new hires and continuing training programs and ensuring the facility is maintained to luxury spa standards.
  • Strategically and proactively developing programs, marketing initiatives, and promotions to increase revenue-generating opportunities, enhance the guest experience, and increase the repeat guest base.
  • Creating Wellness and Fitness experiences that align with guest interests and ability levels.
  • Supporting public relations requests and responding to all media leads.
  • Establishing beneficial partnerships with all product, equipment, and supply vendors that include competitive pricing, technical support, training programs, and coop promotions.
  • This position is also an Executive Committee member and is responsible for duties thereof as assigned.
