About The Position
The Sorter safely and efficiently processes incoming recyclable materials so outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to brokers or mills. The role involves separating recoverable materials from incoming waste, placing materials in the appropriate chutes, and helping ensure loads meet processing requirements.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a Recycling Facility sorting recyclable materials.
Responsibilities
- Sort and segregate recoverable materials, including aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper, from incoming waste.
- Safely and efficiently deposit recoverable materials into the appropriate chute.
- Assist other sorters as needed with heavy or bulky items.
- Follow Company safety policies and procedures, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergency situations.
- Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove unacceptable items as required.
- Communicate with equipment operators about incoming loads of special waste or other loads requiring special attention.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
