About The Position

The Windows Ecosystem and Commercial Engagement (WECE) team brings Microsoft’s Windows vision to life through a global network of partners, customers, and engineering teams. The Partner Engineering Platform (PEP) team builds secure, reliable, and compliant services, data pipelines, and agentic solutions that enable collaboration across these groups. Microsoft is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, test, and operate cloud services that support collaboration between Microsoft and its partners. The role addresses engineering challenges involving APIs, distributed systems, security, data processing, and service reliability. The engineer will contribute to production systems used across Microsoft and its partners, building services that remain correct and available as usage, data volumes, and integration complexity increase. The successful candidate will bring a solid engineering foundation, curiosity, a growth mindset, and the ability to drive defined problems to completion with increasing independence. The role involves delivering secure, observable, and maintainable code and supporting secure information exchange and critical engineering workflows at scale.

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and at least one year of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, or Python; or a master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing, testing, and debugging software in a professional or production environment.
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and complete defined tasks with appropriate guidance.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills in a team environment.
  • Experience developing applications using C# and/or .NET.
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
  • Experience with Azure or comparable cloud platforms.
  • Problem-solving, debugging, and software design skills.
  • Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases and messaging or queueing systems.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization concepts such as OAuth, Microsoft Entra ID, or role-based access control.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures, containers, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with source control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps practices.
  • Exposure to monitoring, telemetry, or live-site operations.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate secure and scalable cloud services and APIs, with guidance on larger design decisions.
  • Own features end to end, from technical design and implementation through deployment and production support.
  • Build reliable solutions involving APIs, data processing, authentication and authorization, and asynchronous workflows.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to unit, integration, and automated test coverage.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, data synchronization, and asynchronous processing logic that correctly handles retries, failures, and edge cases.
  • Add telemetry, logging, and alerts to features, and use them to monitor service health and diagnose issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and live-site support, investigate production issues, and contribute to service reliability and operational improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews and code reviews, incorporate feedback, and contribute to engineering quality.
  • Collaborate with engineers, program managers, and partner teams to clarify requirements and deliver working solutions.
