About The Position

Runway is seeking a Social Media Lead to establish the strategy and operating model for its social presence. The role serves audiences including filmmakers, artists, developers, researchers, and enterprise teams, giving each channel a clear purpose and ensuring major moments—such as model launches, research releases, film festivals, and conferences—receive effective distribution. The Social Media Lead will provide strategic leadership and operational ownership, while remaining hands-on where needed. They will help researchers, engineers, creatives, and executives share their work credibly and authentically, and collaborate with creators to tell Runway’s story. The position is open to remote candidates across the United States. Runway also has offices in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Paris, and Tel Aviv.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in strategic social media or related marketing programs.
  • A track record of building social strategy and its operating model, including prioritization, agency and contractor management, workflows, measurement, and executive alignment.
  • Excellent editorial judgment and an instinct for what feels credible and native on each platform, especially X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Fluency across film, art and creator cultures, AI and startups, venture capital, and Silicon Valley; ability to translate technical research for a broad audience.
  • Comfort with performance and brand measurement, distinguishing correlation from impact, and running disciplined tests.
  • Hands-on familiarity with generative AI tools, including Runway, and curiosity about their development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift with each launch.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience at a top-tier technology, consumer, media, or entertainment company.

Responsibilities

  • Set Runway’s social strategy, raise the creative bar, and build a calendar for an always-on presence leading into major launches.
  • Define a distinct role for each channel, including X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging community platforms.
  • Determine who should lead each story—Runway, a researcher, executive, creator, customer, or partner—and develop the distribution plan.
  • Partner with Research, Product, Communications, and Brand to turn model launches, research papers, and product updates into platform-native, credible social moments.
  • Guide and coach Runway researchers, engineers, and executives on sharing their work, and coordinate amplification.
  • Collaborate with the Community team, partners, and creator community to feature work made with Runway.
  • Establish a clear scorecard and use social insights to improve the work over time.
