Smart Home Consultant
About The Position
As a Smart Home Consultant on ADT’s Field Operations team, you guide residential customers in designing smart home setups to help protect what they value most. The role combines hands-on installation with consultative sales, explaining how security, IoT devices, and smart home products work together. You activate systems, educate customers about ADT’s app and features, and tailor each solution to the customer’s needs. The position includes paid onboarding: an additional $320 per week on top of hourly pay during a three-week program covering New Technician Training, Field Safety Training, and Peer-to-Peer Training. A company vehicle is provided for work use. Hourly pay is $17.00, with stated average annual earning potential of $105,000 through uncapped upsell commissions, job completion pay, quality bonuses, and referral incentives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; additional licensing may be needed based on location.
- Strong customer-focused communication skills.
- Technical aptitude with smart device ecosystems and connected technologies.
- Ability to understand how multiple products interact within a home network.
- Ability to advise customers on system design and setup to support their safety goals.
- Ability to continuously learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
- Ability to climb, lift 10 or more pounds, and work indoors and outdoors in varied conditions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver in-home consultations and assessments.
- Recommend smart home and security solutions based on customer goals.
- Install and activate security hardware, cameras, IoT devices, and smart home products.
- Integrate new products with the customer’s existing setup.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical questions.
- Complete customer onboarding and product education.
- Build long-term customer confidence through proactive support.
- Identify upsell opportunities that strengthen home protection.
