About The Position

The Smart Home Consultant guides residential customers in designing smart security and home setups that support their safety goals. The role combines in-home consultation and assessment with hands-on installation, system activation, consultative sales, troubleshooting, customer onboarding, and product education. The consultant recommends solutions based on customer needs, integrates devices with existing setups, and builds customer confidence through proactive support.

The role pays $17.00 per hour and offers average annual earning potential of $105,000 through uncapped upsell commissions, job completion pay, quality bonuses, and referral incentives. During a three-week onboarding program, employees receive an additional $320 per week on top of hourly pay. Training includes New Technician Training, Field Safety Training, and Peer-to-Peer Training. A company vehicle is provided for work use.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; additional licensing may be needed based on location.
• Strong customer-focused communication skills.
• Technical aptitude with smart device ecosystems and connected technologies.
• Ability to understand how multiple products interact within a home network.
• Ability to advise customers on system design and setup to support their safety goals.
• Ability to learn continuously and adapt to new tools and technologies.
• Ability to climb, lift 10 or more pounds, and work indoors and outdoors in varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver in-home consultations and assessments.
• Recommend smart home and security solutions based on customer goals.
• Install and activate security hardware, cameras, IoT devices, and smart home products.
• Integrate new products with the customer’s existing setup.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical questions.
• Complete customer onboarding and product education.
• Build long-term customer confidence through proactive support.
• Identify upsell opportunities that strengthen home protection.
