Shipping Coordinator

The role of Shipping Coordinator is responsible for verifying and recording outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment, and performing other duties as directed by the production supervisor within the shipping department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Six months shipping experience in a manufacturing or similar environment preferred
- Experience operating a forklift
- Knowledgeable in MS Office, and experience with ERP systems – Epicor preferred
- Effective writing and communication skills
- Good mathematical skills
- Ability to use sound judgment and prioritize tasks
- Work closely with all levels of staff focusing on shipping and production duties
Responsibilities
- Enter shipment data into freight carrier’s computer system for tracking and label purposes
- Pull required inventory and packages product in suitable container for shipment
- Package product to prevent damage in shipment
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Determine method of shipment.
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons and/or add identifying shipping information on cartons.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Operate power lift truck or uses pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Work closely with Customer Service, Production Control and Assembly departments to ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate with freight companies when loads are ready as well as pick up status.
- Assist with assembling products as needed.
