About The Position

The Shift Leader is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the coffeehouse in partnership with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. During each shift, the Shift Leader ensures the team understands brand standards, expectations, products, cleanliness, new directives, and guest connections. The role includes leading and developing team members, managing shift priorities and handoffs, maintaining quality and safety standards, and completing administrative tasks such as bank deposits, inventory, and product orders. Shift Leaders are expected to maintain flexible availability as business and operational needs change.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience in a leadership role, or proper training and approval to take on Shift Leader responsibilities.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Maintain flexible availability to support business and team needs, including the possibility of working different days, times, or shifts as operational needs change.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate mastery of every Team Member responsibility with confidence, enthusiasm, and excellence.
Lead shifts with a commitment to keeping the team engaged, maintaining positive energy, and keeping operations on track.
Optimize product sales while managing waste and maintaining an inviting, well-executed coffeehouse environment.
Understand daily team deployment and communicate roles and priorities clearly on the floor.
Anticipate team needs and competing shift priorities, and delegate objectives and tasks accordingly.
Take ownership of the current shift and provide a smooth handoff to the next shift.
Ensure the team follows standard operating procedures and Caribou standards for quality, cash handling, store safety, and security.
Coach and train team members on role responsibilities, product knowledge, promotions, recipe preparation, and guest-request adjustments.
Complete administrative tasks, including bank deposits, inventory, and product orders, accurately and on time.
Develop team members by providing coaching and feedback in the moment.
