About The Position

The Shift Lead supports store operations and delivers a distinctive customer experience. In the absence of store management, the role opens and closes the store, completes required system start-ups and cash-handling tasks, prepares the sales floor and stock room for business, and opens the back door for deliveries. The Shift Lead handles transactions and related tasks, including product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops, and providing change to registers. The position helps maintain store operations and inventory, supports ordering and deliveries, assists with merchandising and pricing, and helps ensure the store is clean, organized, and compliant with applicable policies and regulations. The Shift Lead also communicates assigned tasks to team members when management is absent and reports disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management. The role attends training and completes assigned learning modules.

Requirements

One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key-holder work experience.
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English, except in Puerto Rico.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of store inventory control.
Obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or a pharmacy license as required by state.

Responsibilities

Open and close the store in the absence of store management, including system start-ups, cash handling, and preparing the floor and stock room for the business day.
Open the back door for deliveries, including vendor deliveries.
Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and requests for change for cash registers.
Provide a distinctive and helpful customer experience by greeting customers and patients, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions.
Model and share customer-service best practices with team members.
Hold store keys and open or close the store without management as necessary.
Assist and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including creating, reviewing, and receiving orders.
Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and maintain records of scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids.
Assist management with reviewing order exceptions on order release day and with reverse logistics, including returns and empty packages.
Assist management in evaluating and developing displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions.
Maintain accurate inventory counts and on-hand quantities in departments, the stockroom, and overstock locations.
Help ensure team members follow the Outdate program.
Handle basic department pricing and daily price changes, maintain accurate signage, and complete related pricing tasks required by local regulations or compliance programs on time.
Assist with bookkeeping, including cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payments, as necessary or requested.
Help maintain clean, neat, orderly interior and exterior store conditions; request store or system repairs when appropriate.
Follow food separation and product placement procedures, assist with stock rotation using first-in, first-out, and restock outs.
Maintain working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
Assist at the pharmacy out window as requested.
Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products, such as alcohol and tobacco.
Conduct bag checks of team members before they leave the store.
Comply with company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Attend training and complete PPLs requested by the Manager.
Communicate assigned tasks to team members when store management is not present.
Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.
