About The Position

The Department of Plant Sciences, College of Agriculture and Bioresources is seeking applications for Sessional Lecturers to teach various courses during the 2026-27 Fall and Winter sessions. These positions involve delivering lectures and, in some cases, labs, with specific schedules and enrollment limits for each course. The role requires specific academic qualifications and experience relevant to the subject matter of the courses taught.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the design, operation, and maintenance of current agricultural machinery (for PLSC 205).
  • Knowledge of operation of digital technology relevant to agricultural production systems (for PLSC 205).
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture or agricultural engineering with relevant experience (for PLSC 205).
  • PhD. degree in a Natural Sciences discipline (for PLSC 835, PLSC 836, PLSC 837).
  • Experience in the use of the R statistical package (for PLSC 835, PLSC 836, PLSC 837).
  • Experience in the use of mixed models and generalized linear models for the analysis of agronomic and/or biological data (for PLSC 835, PLSC 836, PLSC 837).
  • Minimum of a M.Sc. in biological sciences and relevant teaching experience (for PLSC 260).
  • Minimum of a M.Sc. in biological, agricultural, or veterinary sciences (for PLSC 311).
  • Relevant teaching experience (for PLSC 311, PLSC 345, PLSC 375).
  • Minimum of a M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Agricultural or Biological Sciences (for PLSC 345, PLSC 375).
  • Teaching or teaching assistant experience (for PLSC 345, PLSC 375).
  • A valid driver’s license is required for off-campus site visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-graduate degree in a related area (for PLSC 205).
  • Instructional experience with a good track record (for PLSC 205).
  • Experience with keeping bees (for PLSC 311).
  • Experience in agronomy and/or pesticides (for PLSC 345, PLSC 375).

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses, including lectures and labs where applicable.
  • Prepare course materials, including lectures, assignments, and exams.
  • Mark assignments, exams, and other course work.
  • Provide guidance and support to students.
  • Participate in course and program development as required.
  • Conduct off-campus site visits if required for specific courses (requires a valid driver's license).
