About The Position

The Department of Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough is seeking a Sessional Lecturer for the Fall 2026 academic session to teach MUZA/B/C66/67H3F - Small Ensemble (Amplified & Digital). This course focuses on the practical study of small ensemble performance, including public presentations and group recitals. Students are expected to complete both Fall and Winter sessions in the same ensemble. A placement interview is required, and while the program attempts to accommodate everyone, it is not intended for individuals learning an instrument for the first time. The appointment dates are from September 1 to December 31, 2026, with an estimated enrollment of 25 students and no estimated TA hours. The position involves all normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in music with extensive experience performing and leading popular music styles (e.g., jazz, pop, rock).
  • A strong background in music technology preferred.
  • Composition ability and teaching experience at the university level is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration and marking of assignments and final portfolios
  • Calculation and submission of grades
  • Holding regular office hours
  • Completion of any course grading not finished by December 31, 2026 for F courses.
