About The Position

Sessional Lecturer for MAF1003H3F - Advanced Topics in Assurance scheduled for Fall 2026 in the Department of Management, Graduate Programs located at University of Toronto Scarborough. The delivery is In-Class. The Advanced Topics in Assurance course explores assurance concepts and theory designed to enhance the reliability of information including current research in the area of assurance, ethics and governance. In addition to building on topics from prerequisite courses, this course integrates other areas of business as they relate to assurance engagements. Practical and situational case-based applications in varying degrees of complexity are used to engage students to demonstrate knowledge while also developing professional judgement and professional skepticism. The practical and integrative nature of the course will develop professional skills including ethical behaviour, decision-making, problem-solving, communication and leadership.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Membership as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience teaching audit/assurance at the university undergraduate and/or graduate level with a strong teaching evaluation record.
  • Senior‑level experience leading a variety of audit and assurance engagements in professional accounting practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree.
  • Experience with the delivery of CPA professional-level program training delivered by the profession or in a corporate environment as well as for preparation for national common examinations.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing the course outline and all teaching and reading materials, with a clear understanding of the CPA competency map.
  • Ability to work closely with Sessional Instructional Assistance and/or Teaching Assistants to grade cases, assignments, midterm and final exams.
  • Hold office hours and/or respond to subject related e-mail queries from students.
