About The Position

The Department of Management at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) is seeking a Sessional Lecturer for the MGT231 Business Finance course for the Winter 2026 academic term. This position involves the design and teaching of university degree credit courses, including preparing and delivering course content, creating course materials, developing and administering assignments and exams, grading student work, maintaining student contact hours, and supervising teaching assistants. The course, MGT231H5 LEC0105, analyzes the financial investment decision-making process of individuals and firms, covering present-value techniques, capital budgeting, investment under uncertainty, and portfolio theory. The appointment period is from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Superior teaching ability
  • Suitable academic and/or professional qualifications
  • Currency and mastery of the subject matter
  • Clearly demonstrated teaching excellence in the subject matter through previous experience teaching the course in question, or very similar courses

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of course content, including lectures and/or seminars
  • Creation of course ware
  • Development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations
  • Marking and grading of student work
  • Submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy
  • Maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours
  • Supervision of the day-to-day work of any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course
