About The Position

This course will focus on the evolving history of organisms and their ecosystems on Earth, including aspects of geochemistry and taphonomy. This course will investigate the interactions between Earth and Life over the past 3.5 billion years, emphasizing how the paleontological record is used to understand the complex nature of our evolving Earth.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in relevant area of Earth Science
  • Currency and mastery of subject area required as demonstrated by high-quality recent research experience (within the past four years)
  • Past teaching experience
  • Excellence in teaching a similar course
  • Demonstrate teaching excellence by providing documentation in the form of student surveys, letters, or other appropriate pieces of evidence

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent candidates otherwise considered to be equivalently qualified may be asked to present a sample lecture on a topic from the course, and performance in such a lecture will be considered important in the final assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations
  • Calculations and submission of grades
  • Provide direction and supervision of TAs
  • Holding regular office hours
