About The Position

The University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) is seeking a Sessional Lecturer I to teach PHY325H5 • Computational Physics for the Fall 2026 term. This course focuses on the theory and application of computational methods in the physical sciences, including numerical algorithms for solving differential equations, boundary value problems, matrix decompositions, Fourier analysis, and simulation of random processes. The course is expected to have an enrollment of 40 students and will be delivered in-person synchronously. TA support will be provided depending on enrollment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in relevant area of Physics
  • Currency and mastery of subject area as demonstrated by high-quality recent research experience (within the past four years)
  • Past teaching experience
  • Excellence in teaching a similar course
  • Demonstrate teaching excellence by providing documentation in the form of student surveys, letters, or other appropriate pieces of evidence
  • Ability to present a sample lecture on a topic from the course if requested

  • Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III rank (preference given in hiring)

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and examinations
  • Calculations and submission of grades
  • Provide direction and supervision of TAs
  • Holding regular office hours
