About The Position

This is a Sessional Lecturer I position for the course PHY333H5 • Physics of the Cell. The course offers a biophysical description of the structural properties and biological processes of the cell, focusing on topics such as membrane biophysics, osmosis, cell division, differentiation, growth, cell motility, cellular communication, signal transduction, nerve impulses, action potential, synaptic signal transmission, free energy transduction, bioenergetics, photosynthesis, respiration, photobiophysics, photoreception, and bioluminescence. The estimated course enrollment is 25 students, and the position is for one instructor. The delivery method is in-person synchronous. The appointment dates are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in relevant area of Physics
  • Currency and mastery of subject area required as demonstrated by high-quality recent research experience (within the past four years)
  • Past teaching experience
  • Excellence in teaching a similar course
  • Demonstrate teaching excellence by providing documentation in the form of student surveys, letters, or other appropriate pieces of evidence

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent candidates otherwise considered to be equivalently qualified may be asked to present a sample lecture on a topic from the course, and performance in such a lecture will be considered important in the final assessment.

Responsibilities
